Frequently asked questions

Glass lamp shades · sizes, fit and finishes

How do I know which glass shade I need?

The key measurement is the neck/opening diameter that fits the lampholder. Measure your old shade or the fitting. In our range the most common opening is 5 cm; we also stock 4, 5.5, 7, 8 and 9 cm.

Then choose shape and finish. If unsure, send us measurements or a photo.

What is the difference between frosted, opal and clear glass?

Clear: more light, bulb visible. Frosted/translucent: softer light. Opal: even diffusion and less glare—very popular for replacement globes.

We also offer amber finishes for warmer light.

Will these shades fit any lamp?

They suit many ceiling, wall, table lamps and some fans with lights, but they are not universal: opening and shape must match. Individual glass replacements, mainly made in Spain.

What is a globe shade and when should I choose it?

The classic spherical shade, mostly opal or frosted, roughly 10–25 cm, with openings by size. Some have one or two openings. Opal globes of 11 and 14 cm are among the most requested.

Can I use LED bulbs inside the shade?

Yes. Glass is compatible with LED (recommended). Avoid heat sources that overheat against the glass.

How do I fit and clean them?

Switch off power, remove the bulb if needed and seat the shade by the neck without forcing it. Clean when cold with a damp cloth or mild glass cleaner.

Do you sell the shade only, without the full lamp?

Yes. This category is for glass spare parts to replace broken shades or refresh a lamp without buying a full new fitting.
