What is a miniature circuit breaker (MCB)?

A protective device that trips on overload or short circuit, usually modular (DIN rail). This category is mainly Schneider Acti9 / C60 / iC60 / C120, plus Hager, Legrand, GSC and others.

What should I check to choose the right model?

Key data: number of poles, rated current (A), trip curve (B, C, D…) and breaking capacity (kA), plus voltage. When replacing, note brand, amps, poles and curve on the front of the existing unit.

What do curves B, C and D mean?

They set the instantaneous trip threshold. Homes often use curve C; B is more sensitive; D tolerates higher inrush. Confirm with your installer or wiring diagram.

Are MCBs and RCDs the same?

No. An MCB protects the circuit from overload/short. An RCD / residual-current device protects against earth leakage (often 30 mA). Do not swap them.

How many poles do I need (1P, 2P, 3P, 4P)?

Depends on the circuit: 1P one phase; 2P common in single-phase; 3P/4P in three-phase. Match the existing arrangement.

Can I install it myself?
